Hi, I’m Jack Chamberlain.

I am Hull-based creative with over 10 years of experience working in theatre and events as an actor, musician, director, producer, facilitator, event planner, tea-maker, board member, and everything else in-between!

I believe that working across various different theatrical disciplines continues to give me a really useful insight that informs each strand of my practice, there is always more to learn!

Outside of my work I am a keen Lego enthusiast and video gamer. I also love spending time with my dog Sidney who has the cutest little comedy underbite I’ve ever seen.

On my site you can learn more about my work and can get in touch if you have got a cool idea, request or if you just fancy a chat!

My Manifesto

I believe wholeheartedly in the power that live performance has to empower people, to change their understanding of the world and to have a rollicking good time. Through all of the different elements of my work, it is always important to me that whatever I work on fulfills at least one of the following three principles, with bonus points for all three!

To Entertain

There is nothing more cathartic than coming together with a group of people to enjoy a shared experience. It is crucial to me that my work entertains, whether audiences are taking an 80’s inspired robot for a walk via live feed video or if they happen upon a 15th-century wool merchant with a penchant for singing when taking a stroll through Hull City Centre. Prepare for the unexpected!

To Educate

Education is an important part of my work and of live performance. This might involve facilitating a workshop at a school to share some of my learnings or helping a group of people develop a new idea or concept. This might also be written into the fabric of a story that is being told within a play or live experience. We all learn so much from the art that we choose to enjoy.

To Empower

I strive to empower others no matter who they are, be they audiences, artists or even passers-by. I do this by actively involving myself in audience and artist development, by bringing performance directly into communities and unexpected locations and working with inspiring people to tell stories that really matter.
